Calls for non violent,peaceful elections.
Inter – Party Advisory Council,IPAC today embarked on Voters Education,Sensitization and Roadshow across the country as their contribution towards a peaceful, free,fair and credible elections in the country.
The exercise took place in all the geopolitical zones of the country with Enugu State as the venue for the South East zone.
The South East zone hosted by Enugu State led by IPAC National legal adviser, Barr.Kenneth Udeze marched through Chime Avenue, New Haven,down to Bissala road and to other major streets then to Government House educating voters on how to vote and expected behavior on the election days.
In press statement issued by the National Chairman, Chief Peter Ameh said that IPAC’s has been contributing to free,fair,violence – free and credible elections through voters and sensitization, road shows,workshops and seminar in the past elections in the country.
He said,”Strongly rooted and committed to promoting and fostering harmonious inter – party relations, violence – free elections and fighting the growing obnoxious vote – buying and cash inducement syndrome in our elections”
Chief Ameh said that IPAC roadshows and workshops across all geopolitical zones are designed to complement INEC’s efforts towards conduct of free,fair and successful election nationwide.
The statement said that “IPAC voters education and sensitization, roadshow, seminar and workshops have successfully impacted governorship elections in Anambra,Edo,Ondo,Ekiti,and Osun”adding that IPAC aim is to make this election a model for emulation in the entire African continent and among the global vest election practices and International standard which will position Nigeria as foremost emerging democratic nation.
He therefore called on Nigerian youths and all Nigerians voters, security agencies and stakeholders to support the efforts and call by IPAC “to deepen our democracy in Nigeria through fostering free and credible 2019 general elections” pointing out the unity and commitment of political parties in Nigeria to ensure success of the forthcoming election.
The group warned that,”the political ambition of any Nigerian is not worth the blood of any fellow Nigerian, or by extension, the destruction of properties, age long inter – ethnic and inter – religious harmony among Nigerians or erosion of elementary and primary friendships among Nigerian families”
The statement says that IPAC with the support of Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), Political Parties Leadership and Policy Development Centre of NIPSS and other International and donor agencies strive to ensure eradication of electoral malfeasance in Nigeria.
The National Chairman appealed to all eligible voters to be peaceful, play by the rules, vote for their choice candidates freely and eschew all forms of political violence,intimidation, electoral corruption and anything that may compromise the 2019 general election.
The IPAC National Chairman commended INEC chairman, Prof.Mahmood Yakubu for facilitating the exercise, IPAC voters education and sensitization (Roadshow and Seminar)project across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.
