Reiterates commitment of his administration.
Enugu North local government has distributed food items worth millions of naira to the vulnerable in the society.
The consumables included; bags of rice, cartons of indomine noddles, sugar, bags of garri, salt among other food items.
The council chairman, Hon. Emeka Onunze addressing jubilant crowd at Ogui New Layout ward 8, said that the impact of Covid 19 is still felt by the people especially the poorest of the poor and the vulnerable in the society.
“As the economic activities are gradually picking up, many people still suffer the impact of the coronavirus pandemic occasioned by the lockdown order of the government”
The chairman stated further “As a responsible and responsive government we decided to embark on another round of distributing palliatives to ameriorate the sufferings of the masses”
The council boss used the opportunity to thank the people for voting for him in the last local government polls regretting that the coronavirus pandemic restricted movement and assemblage of many people which delayed his planned earlier thank you visit.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment in embarking on aggressive infrastructural development while requesting their support and prayers.
He advised the people not to be over excited by the gradual ease of the lockdown and forget to be safety conscious to avoid the spread of the virus.
In his brief remarks, the Chairman, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Enugu North chapter, Hon. Okey Ezike said that the council chairman has done so well in the area of infrastructure since assumption of office and expressed the hope that Hon. Onunze would leave legacies behind at the end of his tenure.
In a vote of thanks, the chairman, Ogui New Layout, ward 8, Hon. Dan Orafu described Hon. Onunze as a generous, humble person who is slow to anger and a man that always has the interest of the people at heart.
Hon. Orafu thanked the chairman for his magnanimity and benovolance especially at this hard times.
The council chairman and his entourage also visited the entire 13 political wards in the council area traversing Ogui New Layout, Coal Camp, GRA, Ugwu Aaron and other area.
In the chairman entourage were the Local Government Secretary, Hon. Barr. Martin Edeh, Local Government Executive of PDP among other diginitries.
