200 persons today recieved ten thousand each in the financial grant from Hon. Nnolim Nnaji, Member Federal House of Representatives for Nkanu East / Nkanu West Federal Constituency.
Recall that the financial grant scheme kick started with Amankanu/ Uba ward, Amurri and Nkerefi ward 2. By this, 800 persons have benefitted from the scheme while more people are expected to be covered across the 28 wards in the constituency.
Hon. Nnolim Nnaji speaking through his Legislative Aide, Mr. Mike Udoh said that the program could have been nearing completion if not for the coronavirus pandemic which slowed the pace and affected everything globally.
Nnaji said that he has been worried about the financial conditions of his people and had promised during the campaigns, that if elected that he would give grant to some indigent members of his constituency to ameliorate the sufferings of the people.
The lawmaker used the opportunity to reiterated his commitment to cater for his constitutients and assured them of quality representation.
He advised them to observe safety protocols as were stipulated by Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) stating that coronavirus is real.
“Please always ensure that you washing your hands regularly, use alcohol based sanitizer and maintain physical distancing as coronavirus is real” Nnaji advised.
In his speech, the Administrator, Akpugo Development Center, Hon. Ofobuike Nwodo described Hon. Nnaji as a goal getter who would stop at nothing to get a fair share of the national cake for his people pointing that the lawmaker had always shown capacity to represent the constituency.
Hon. Nwodo used the occasion to thank Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for the ongoing rehabilitation of Enugu urban road saying that Governor Ugwuanyi had done well especially in the containment of the spread of the coronavirus.
In a vote of thanks, one of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Monica Edeh expressed surprise that she was among the beneficiaries stating that she was dumbfounded when she was informed that she made the list of people to be given money today.
Mrs. Edeh who was overjoyed demonstrated native dance steps as she prayed for God’s wisdom, protection and direction to Hon. Nnaji for remembering the poor.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of financial grant to the beneficiaries.
Earlier, the Very Rev. Peter Anyanwu Methodist Church, Ndi – Agu, Akpugo was on hand to bless the occasion, prayed God for His continual protection and blessings on Hon. Nnaji for the rare gesture.
Present at the occasion were Hon. Onyebuchi Anike, Councillor, Akpugo ward 4, Hon. Ikechukwu Nnaji, Hon. Patrick Nwodo former councillors, Chief Sylvester Okoro, Chief Frank Nnaji, Chief Ifeanyi Nwodo, Hon. Chima Nwodo, Hon. Jasper Nwobodo, Hon. Emeka Nwodo among others.
