Ugwuanyi: the Governor on a 2nd Mission

By Gwiyi Solomon

“There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up;” said John Holmes.

The Governor Ugwuanyi’s four years of indefatigable and dignified labour, subsumed into community to community and Local Government to Local government commendable service delivery to Enugu state and its environ cannot be overlooked at this time he is on a 2nd mission.

In clearer terms and parlance, it is time for the Governor’s score cards’ presentation, having been extraordinarily chosen to steer the ship of the state in the past four years; a task he has performed laudably and even surpassed expectations.

Undisputedly, the leader’s CV in the past four years boosts of a very rich background in provision of adequate security, provision of infrastructure, job creation, payment of workers’ salaries and interventions during emergencies.

Riding on the crest of accomplishments overleaf, dotted with altruism, dedication, passion, lucidity and accountability; culminating in the uncommon transformation of Enugu state, in virtually every sphere of our endeavor, the Governor will be standing taller than any other contender in the coming March 9th governorship election in the state.

But “You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you;” said John Bunyan.

It is based on the understanding above that one can boldly say that in Enugu state under the helmsman, by and large labeled “one governor, with too many laurels,” the state has developed wings and joined the league of other metropolitan states in the European world, known for their quest for excellence and superiority.

In the State these past years under “Gburugburu” as Governor, the former capital of the Eastern region has known nothing else other than untainted service, laced with humane approach to issues bordering on the wellbeing of our dearly loved state.

Since his assumption of office in 2015, the key words are glamour, aesthetics, innovations, excellence, dynamism and quality as his “choose your project initiative” where every community received over ten million naira to choose and execute any project of their choice remains a watershed.

The feats and leadership approach of Governor Ugwuanyi only reminds one of Marcus Tullius Cicero’s famous Latin quote that “Non nobis solum nati sumus;” meaning “not for ourselves alone are we born.”

We are born to lift others from their situations and plights. And that is what the Governor has shown and demonstrated in the state since ascending to the state’s oval office.

Let us therefore, do it again on the 9th of March 2019 when we will file out to renew the Governor’s work permit and certificate of occupancy in the Lion Building.

Enugu state is in the Hands of God.
